TOP THREE GREATEST VIDEO GAME BEARDS OF ALL TIME

One of my most favourite hobbies by far would have to be playing video games. Since a young age I've always enjoyed getting lost in the deep and dark depths of video game storylines, my personal favourite being Halo. I'd like to think the man behind the helmet of the Master Chief hides a glorious man with an even more glorious beard. What often infuriates me is despite beards ever growing popularity, often our favourites video game titles do not support such manly facial forests. If anything we're lucky if we have our online personas sport a little light stubble which for this day and age annoys the living hell out of me!

Today, I wanted to take the time to applaud those developers that go above and beyond to make our gaming customizables perfect, by supporting fabulous beards within our favourite gaming titles. So, here are my Top Three Greatest Video Game Beards Of All Time...

GRAND THEFT AUTO 5, TREVOR...

I've always been a huge fan of the GTA franchise, and when they launched their latest title, GTA V back in 2013 it wasn't long into the story until we were introduced to a rather colourful individual named, Trevor. Although when you first meet the foul mouthed countryman he does not have any form of facial hair, a quick visit to the barbershop (who chooses to cut your hair with a huge pair of kitchen scissors!) soon unlocks his beard growing potential. Whilst throughout the GTA campaign beards are a plenty in different shapes, colours and sizes. The disappointment sadly soon begins to sink in when customising yourself in the world of GTA Online. As the closest you'll be able to grow online is a rather shambolic face of barely visible stubble. And despite several updates to the game this doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Gutted.

THE MARIO BROTHERS, MARIO AND LUIGI...

I know I know! They don't actually have beards, but the do have rather impressive cloudy-like mustaches! But I couldn't bring a gaming topic like this to the table without giving these two epic plumbers a mention! The Super Mario Bros have been around since the 1980's and have remained a popular kids favourite within the gaming industry. I can recall spending plenty of quality time with my eldest Brother running through each campaign much quicker than they could ever be released. Super Mario 3 being my all time favourite. Throughout each games release the two Brothers have maintained rather impressive moustaches. I'm not sure if I'm showing my age a little here, but can you recall when the first game released and Mario wore white overalls and hat rather than his now iconic red jump suit? not only that but his moustache actually started out ginger! True story, Bro.

GOD OF WAR 3, KRATOS...

From the very first game released in the God Of War series, the main character - Kratos has always sported some form of facial hair. In God Of War 3 is where he really stepped up his facial forest growing game when he showed up owning the beard pictured above. Whilst I've never really divulged into this franchise myself, I can't not take a moment to pay huge kudos to the developers for packing out the mechanics of the game with such magnificent facial growth as this. Displaying his bald head, booming physique and mighty dagger sword, it only seems fitting for Kratos to own such a wonderous beard. Top marks to Santa Monica Studios! *High Five!*
