4 TIPS ON GROWING OUT YOUR BEARD LIKE A REAL VIKING WARRIOR

Unless you have been living on another planet, you may have noticed we've gone Viking crazy here at 'The Beard Struggle' recently. With the launch of our 'TBS Brand Vikings' in the making we have hand selected a few tips for the Viking age on how our bearded ancestors might have looked after their glorious yet rather roguish beards during their reign, so you can also Grow Out Your Beard Like A Real Viking Warrior...

STOCK UP ON THE SEA FOOD, VIKING!

A huge part of any Vikings diet would often include a sea food rich diet. Mainly consisting of easily sorted foods from the ocean such as oysters, crabs, lobsters as well as wider array of freshly caught fish would contribute to his diet, these foods being rich in iron which would help his beards growth and condition. On-land Vikings would fill up on wild caught animals liver, greens and veggies, which are also a good source of protein to further assist his beard growing game.

KEEP YER BEARD CLEAN! AT ALL COST, WARRIOR!

Despite their roguish bloodied lifestyles, Vikings were actually rather clean and tidy men. Those who had facial hair would keep their beards in check by regularly washing any blood spatter (or at least that's what I imagine it is!) messy foods spillages and grime almost daily, In order to keep his manly Viking beard spotless.

BRUSHING YER BEARD WITH OILS IS RATHER HISTORIC!

It is believed that even in the viking era beards were often kept in shape by using essential oils. Nowadays we are spoilt for choice on the many oils and tonic scents that are now readily available online for our beards. But back in the Viking age the choices were rather dire. It's believed the oils that may have been used most regularly would have been fish oils (Oh dear, Imagine that fishy stench!) as well as oils gathered from plant extracts. Thankfully we can leave that part of the Viking age firmly in the past, where they rightfully belong.

KEEP THAT BEARD BRUSHED AND TIDY, WITH A TRIM EVERY NOW AND AGAIN!

Vikings would often brush/comb through their marvelous beards to help keep things in good shape, with combs that were often made from animal bones and deer antlers. It's also believed that Vikings wives and good ladies were rather handy beard barbers too! And would often participate in looking after their man's beard with a nice trim and tidy every now and again.

Whilst I fully admire the true strength and warrior like code that the Viking era was, If you'd prefer to opt out of using fish oils in place of our range we totally understand (And support this too!) After all, nobody likes to smell like a wet fish now, do they!
