4 WEIRD BEARD FACTS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW

Hello there, and welcome back to today's The Beard Struggle blog post! Your little friendly corner of the interwebs, dedicated to all things beard related!

Today I wanted to touch base on a rather fun subject of which I do rather enjoy visiting every once in a while, seeing as there are plenty of sub-topics to talk about, so let's begin today's blog post, which is titled - 4 Weird Beard Facts You Probably Didn't Already Know...

BEARDS CAN GROW ALMOST 4 TIMES A MAN'S HEIGHT IN A LIFETIME!

Did you know that facial hair can grow an estimated 28 feet tall if they were left to grow from puberty to death?

I now that might read just a touch extreme, but it is said that beards can grow on average of 5 and a half inches in around 12 months, and are made up of anything up to 40,000 facial whiskers, so all in all a staggering beard would outgrow its wearer almost five times his height if left to its own devices.

Pretty mind-boggling, to say the very least, aye?

BEARDS ARE MISJUDGED, WITH SOME SUGGESTING THEY MAKE A MAN APPEAR MORE AGGRESSIVE!

Our beards are often subject to some rather poor stereotypes, such as making the wearer appear more aggressive or tougher than they possibly are.

I guess such visions are in the eye of the beholder, as studies suggest a man with a beard appear most attractive, can seem more dominant and even untrustworthy in certain findings.

I would suggest that most of these findings do seem a little overboard, as you should never judge a book by its cover, or a man by his beard.

BEARD ADDICTION IS A REAL THING AND ALSO COMES WITH A REAL NAME TOO!

Yes, it is true, there are people out there that are literally obsessed with your magical man mane, and there's a title for them too, - pogonophile.

Now for me, that word doesn't read or sound all too flattering, does it? but a pogonophile is someone who strongly admires a beard, to the point of this becoming a rather odd obsession in some more extreme cases.

So, it seems facial hair does trigger the strongest of feelings for some, so next time you see that one person staring a little longer than they should, they've probably got a slight obsession with your face fuzz.

BEARDS CAN PROTECT YOU FROM THE SUN AND PROVIDE YOUR FACE SOME SHADE!

Yes, it is very true that your furry face can act as a shaded spot for your face to chill in during the hotter summertime months.

Sporting a thick beard can prevent the suns harmful rays attacking your face, and provides a whopping 90% protection from UV rays, dependant of thickness, and beard style, of course.

Not only that but in the winter months, your face fur can also have the opposite effect, as it holds in the warmth, like a face scarf to help keep jack frost at bay. What a marvelous gadget your facial hair can be, it's like a swiss army knife, only for your cheeks!
